New Year Website Date Fixes

The end of 2009 is approaching and the New Year will bring in 2010.

Is your website or blog ready for 2010?

New Year Maintenance

  1. The first thing you should be ready to do is update copyright dates to reflect 2010.
  2. Review web forms and remove 2009 and add 2010 and future years to the end of your drop down lists.
  3. Check Current Events Calendars to ensure events listed are really current.

Update © Copyright Year

A website or blog showing an old copyright date can be updated in  a couple of ways.

  • Add a hyphen and the current year ie. © copyright 2004-2010
  • Edit the year ie. © copyright 2010
  • We like to dynamically code our copyrights so they are always up to date

Date Drop Down Lists

Three or four years of old dates available in their drop downs (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008)  says “we are not paying attention to our site” .

Event Calendars

Check your current events and calendars. If they are no longer current events or the calendar is hopelessly out of date, consider whether or not you need them at all.

If the issue is that you want to keep it up, but it is too difficult procedurally, we are happy to discuss with you some possibilities for calendars that were designed to allow you to update them yourself.

Be Ready for 2010

Don’t leave your site adrift as we begin 2010.  Spend just a few minutes getting it ready for the turn of the new year by reviewing your copyright statement, your drop down menu date selectors and your current event calendars.  And keep you site looking up to date. 😉
