There are several options available of course and we often help clients choose just the right solution.

At the simple end of the spectrum you can use a third party poll script for the simple data collection. We are not fans for a number of reasons, most significant of which are that you are giving your data to a third party and your site is reliant on their site for performance.

There are also a number of poll softwares, plug-ins and the like that run entirely within your server, for example within wordpress. This is a better solution in our opinion. Need help getting one going? Give us a call.

There are also a number of other options such as Survey Monkey (free version is very limited) and it suffers from the same defects as using a third party poll.

We have a function that we often install for clients called phpESP. We like it a lot for a number of reasons, but it allows you to build surveys and questionnaires on the fly. It will store the information in a mySQL database and it allows you to export the data in csv (comma separated values) or other spread sheet ready formats.
